Contacting by phone to make appointments is still an absolute nightmare. Receptionists are a mixed bunch, some very helpful - others downright rude. Doctors often rush through appointments because of time pressures and you don't feel you have achieved a satisfactory result. I have found that the best way to get proper attention from a doctor/nurse practitioner who actually listens to you is to go to the out of hours centre at Clacton Hospital. Nursing staff are a mixed bunch, some downright uncaring and rude. Nurse Jill deserves special mention - she is always kind, caring, respectful and considerate. One of the Nurse Practitioners could, however, do with a few politeness lessons.

Having recently registered with the Caradoc Surgery, I am frankly staggered at the ineptitude and general unprofessionalism of the same. Of course, one appreciates the endeavours of the National Health Service personnel, in what can only be described as a shattered system, and to endeavour to procure a meeting with a general practitioner in this climate, could never be a holistic experience. I was advised in Colchester, after a brief stay in the local hospital, that I should register , post haste, with a local practitioner. I was given details of the surgery by the doctors, and they suggested that the Caradoc was the closest, with the caveat that it was highly problematic achieving appointment status. I have now been attempting for weeks to procure an appointment, but my endeavours have been fruitless. I have been asked by a receptionist to discuss with them my ongoing symptoms, and various other matters visa vie, which I find intrusive to the extreme. What has now happened to the days of patient confidentiality???!!! When you attempt to register your concerns and complaints with the receptionists, you are met with hubris and platitudes, or total disinterest. It is sadly indicative of Frinton's lackadaisical attitude to modern professional practice generally, in all spheres of life. I am convinced that the majority of the people who reside in this area, being of a certain age, work on the traditional principles that, "one should never grumble". They should not accept this standard, in such a wonderful town. Note: I am currently suffering from depression and/or Bipolar Disorder. Isn't this meant to be the year of awareness of such conditions? Maybe the practitioners should read their journals with more vigour. It has now become my life's mission to achieve a satisfactory appointment with my new doctor. Cc: HRH Prince William

I have been trying for weeks to get through to this surgery, the phone is constantly engaged.. an absolute joke, as far as I am aware there is only one doctor there. something has to be done urgently about this, people deserve better, this has to be the worse surgery in the world.

I just wanted to give a review with the care I have received recently. The Drs, nurses and nurse practitioners are very thorough and efficient and I would recommend this surgery. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. I feel that they take my concerns about my health seriously and will do everything they can to help. The only difficulty I have had recently is getting an appointment but this is by no means the surgery’s fault.
